Update: Tournament of Minds Challenge 2021

Great News! We are pleased to announce that four teams are ready to take Tournament of Minds (TOM) Challenge representing our College this year and we wish them the best for embarking on this exciting experience.

With the current COVID19 restrictions, 28 students from Year 5 to 9 have been dedicating their time, commitment and exploring ideas in developing their problem solving skills for TOM Challenge. Students have been making fantastic efforts in attending meetings via zoom sessions with each team and their Learning Enrichment Team facilitators in working on their Long Term Challenge. Tournament of Minds is all about facing real-life challenges and creative thinking, so we know that despite the many difficulties and restrictions we are faced with, the Al Siraat TOM Teams have been working creatively and collaboratively to overcome the challenges. I applaud them and their facilitators for their determination and resilience in getting through TOM this year.

There are 220 teams participating in TOM Challenge 2021 all around the states and TOM Victoria has decided to move the Regional Tournaments to an online format for all regions. Teams are required to upload a link to their video, together with any accompanying paperwork or other Challenge requirements by 6pm, Thursday 26th August 2021.

Judging will be done on a regional basis, completed online, over THIS WEEKEND of 28th/29th August. Regional winners will be announced next Monday, 30th August, and will be invited to participate at the Victorian Final on Sunday, 12th September. At this time, TOM is planning a live event, with restrictions, but of course, this may change.

This has been a great opportunity for our students to be part of TOM , enjoying the process of problem-solving and working as a team.

Please extend your BEST WISHES and du'as to ALL TOM TEAMS for taking this challenge.
