Student News Report: SSV Basketball and Cricket Updates

We would like to provide an update on the latest Year 6 SSV tournament round hosted by Al Siraat on last Friday, 24th February 2023:

Year 6 girls SSV basketball tournament

"As you might be aware, we have already played three matches against different schools in the first SSV (School Sports Victoria) tournament earlier this month, winning one match. During Friday’s tournament hosted on site at Al Siraat, all our Year 6 girls' team players done an amazing job and so did the other school, but unfortunately, they beat us by two points.

To improve our skills for future tournaments, we would like to work on:

  • Shooting
  • Defending
  • Dribbling
  • Passing from long distances.

Our whole team did an amazing job and we would like to work on the above four skills to become the best ASC’s SSV team. A huge thanks to Mr Omar Jumale for coaching us."

Year 6 boys SSV cricket tournament

“I am very proud of my team. We lost the toss and thought it was over but won in the end due to our hard work. It was sunny but extremely windy, however our team pulled through despite the windy conditions. I put a spinner first which was a great idea. From their first over they made around 10 runs, after I was bowling for the whole over alhamdulillah they did not make any runs.

Time was flying and with a blink of an eye it was our time to bat. In the first 2 overs we made around 37 runs and our hopes had gone high. Once the game was over, we shook hands with everyone and congratulated our opponents before receiving the awesome news of having won the match. As the Captain, I hereby announce the boys 'Man of the Match – Yusuf Aziz Waqas' with a staggering 31 runs.â€
