Foundation

In Physical Education this semester students have been performing basic motor skills and movement patterns, as well as developing various instructional activities, which include; throwing, catching, running and jumping. Students used simple vocabulary to describe movements and were regularly encouraged to learn numerous muscle groups at the beginning of each lesson. Students were also encouraged to follow rules and procedures and to share equipment and space safely. During the unit of throwing and catching, students were required to focus on correct technique whilst aiming at a target, and later tested on their throwing technique using different objects, such as a beanbag, tennis ball and flying vortex. Students also performed various movements and activities in different playing areas of the school. This provided them with an opportunity to adapt to different surfaces and conditions.Students were assessed on their level of participation and on understanding rules and instruction, as well as their ability to adapt to skill based learning of fundamental motor skills.

Year 1

This semester and specifically in term one, students participated in various instructional activities and fundamental movement skills. These included; running, vertical jumping, leaping, evading/dodging and co-operation to given instructions. Students worked towards refining their motor skills and developing these for future sports. Students also used simple vocabulary to describe movements and were regularly encouraged to learn numerous muscle groups and their location on the body, at the beginning of each lesson. Students were also encouraged to follow rules and procedures and share equipment and space safely. In Term Two, students participated in a throwing and catching unit, where they were required to focus on correct techniques whilst aiming at a target, and were later tested on their throwing techniques using different objects, such as a beanbag, rubber cricket ball and flying vortex. They were required to dribble the ball while being stationary, then progressing to movement while dribbling. Students were assessed on participation and their understanding of techniques, as well as their ability to adapt to skill based learning of fundamental motor skills in various games and activities.

Year 2

This semester in Physical Education, students participated in various instructional activities, which included; movement extension, co-operation, practice of fundamental movement skills and teamwork oriented games. Students worked towards refining their fundamental skills and developing these for future sports/activities. Students also used simple vocabulary to describe movements and were regularly encouraged to learn numerous muscle groups and their location on the body. The PE program was delivered on various playing areas of the school. This provided students with an opportunity to adapt to different surfaces and conditions. Students were continually encouraged to follow rules and procedures and share equipment and space safely. Specifically in Term Two, students were required to perform overarm throwing, catching, bouncing and dribbling in various games and activities. Students were later tested to throw with many different objects, such as a beanbag, rubber ball and flying vortex. Students were assessed on participation and on their understanding of, techniques, and their ability to adapt to skill based learning of fundamental motor skills.
